Jemaah Anshorut Tauhid (JAT) is a nearly defunct Indonesia-based terrorist group that seeks to establish an Islamic state in Indonesia. JAT has not threatened or claimed any terrorist attacks since 2014, although former JAT members have engaged in attacks under different banners. The group formed in 2008 when its members broke away from Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), Indonesia’s largest terrorist group. JAT then fractured when founder Abu Bakar Ba’asyir pledged the group’s allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and ash-Sham (ISIS) in 2014. Some members who disagreed with the group’s realignment left to form Jemaah Anshorut Syariah, while most other members joined various ISIS-inspired groups, including Jemaah Anshorut Daulah and Mujahidin Indonesia Timur.
