WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) today released the Annual Statistical Transparency Report (ASTR) Regarding the Intelligence Community’s (IC) Use of National Security Surveillance Authorities for Calendar Year 2023. The report, published every year since 2014, provides the public with statistics and context regarding the government’s use of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act authorities, National Security Letters, and other national security authorities.

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Director of National Intelligence Avril D. Haines today issued the following statement regarding President Joseph Biden's intent to nominate Brad Wiegmann as the General Counsel for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI):

"The President's nominee, Brad Wiegmann, has years of experience serving as legal counsel across the U.S. government in a range of critical senior roles, including as the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for National Security at the Department of Justice; Assistant Legal Advisor at the Department of State; Deputy Legal Advisor at the National Security Council; and Special Counsel to the General Counsel at the Department of Defense. Additionally, in private practice, Brad has worked on civil litigation. Brad's knowledge, breadth of experience, intellect, and exceptional integrity make him an ideal choice for ODNI's General Counsel position."

"I am delighted to welcome Jon Rosenwasser as the Intelligence Community Chief Financial Officer (IC CFO). Jon comes to ODNI from Capitol Hill, where he has been professional staff of the Senate Select Committee for Intelligence (SSCI) since 2013, most recently as Budget and Policy Director. In his new role as IC CFO, Jon will lead IC-wide efforts to fulfill the DNI's role to develop, determine, and present the National Intelligence Program (NIP) budget to the President for approval. Jon will work across the 18 IC elements and seven federal departments and agencies, with the Office of Management and Budget, and with Congress."

“On behalf of the Intelligence Community (IC), I am excited to welcome Dr. Richard ‘Rick’ Muller as the Director of the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA). Dr. Muller takes the helm of IARPA after heading the Department of Energy’s Quantum Systems Accelerator and managing the Advanced Microsystems Group at Sandia National Laboratories, among an array of other accomplishments.
