Tamara Johnson
Tamara A. Johnson was named Principal Deputy Inspector General of the Intelligence Community in October 2020. In this capacity, Ms. Johnson is responsible for the daily management, oversight, and direction of Office of the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community (IC IG) activities and the management of personnel. She was also named Acting Inspector General in April 2021 and served in this leadership role through September 2021. With more than a decade working for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and almost two decades supporting the Intelligence Community (IC), ten of those in the Inspector General community, Ms. Johnson has led collaboratively across the IC to drive the design and evolution of intelligence community operations while fostering a culture of workforce engagement and professional development.
Ms. Johnson’s career in public service includes assignments as the IC IG’s Assistant Inspector General for Planning and Operations and the Assistant Inspector General for Management and Administration from 2012 to 2020. In both positions, she managed overall office operations and brought about support service innovation. Other prior assignments include Chief of Staff for the ODNI Office of the Inspector General; Executive Officer for the CIA Directorate of Support, Non-Traditional Support Program; and Branch Chief for ODNI Facilities Programming and Space Management.
Ms. Johnson began her career in private industry in the Interior Architecture field providing design and construction management services to the government, legal, and association sectors. She later joined Booz Allen as a senior management consultant specializing in the areas of strategy development, operations, and organizational change management.
Tamara Johnson was appointed to the Senior National Intelligence Service in May 2015.
