Press Releases 2017

WASHINGTON – The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity, in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, announced today a multi-year research effort to develop and validate unobtrusive, passive, and continuously sensing methods to assess stable and dynamic psychological, cognitive, and physiological aspects of an individual. If successful, the technology developed under the Multimodal Objective Sensing to Assess Individuals with Context—“MOSAIC program will augment capabilities to evaluate the workforce and identify changes in an individual that may impact job performance.

WASHINGTON – The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity, in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, announced today a multi-year research effort to improve geopolitical forecasting. The Hybrid Forecasting Competition—“HFC”—program aims to improve accuracy in predicting worldwide geopolitical issues, including foreign political elections, interstate conflict, disease outbreaks, and economic indicators by leveraging the relative strengths of humans and machines.

WASHINGTON – The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity, within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, will launch the Modeling of Reflectance Given Only Transmission of High-concentration Spectra for Chemical Recognition Over Widely-varying eNvironments —“MORGOTH’S CROWN” —Challenge as part of the Standoff ILluminator for Measuring Absorbance and Reflectance Infrared Light Signatures—“SILMARILS”—program. The Challenge will launch later this month and invites solvers from around the world to develop algorithms to accurately predict the changes in a chemical’s infrared spectrum caused by changes in its molecular environment. Participants will join a global community working to benchmark research and foster innovation in chemical detection through crowdsourcing.

“I am pleased to announce that the Senate confirmed Susan Gordon yesterday to be the fifth Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence."

I am very pleased that President Trump has nominated retired Vice Admiral Joseph Kernan to be Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence. I can think of no stronger candidate to run the Defense intelligence enterprise.
